How to wire up the cable:
From the MacSeason9 Readme (c) by Marc Wirth:
Use the following wiring:
Sub-D 25-pin Sub-D 9-pin Mini-8
---------------------------------------------------------------
TxD 2 3 3 (TxD-) transmit data
RxD 3 2 5 (RxD-) receive data
RTS 4 7 - request to send
CTS 5 8 - clear to send
DSR 6 6 - data set ready
GND 7 5 4 (GND) ground
DCD 8 1 2 (HSKi) carrier detect
DTR 20 4 - data terminal ready
DCD is used for the reset signals from the decoder by the way.
This is the same wiring as the one required by DeepSpace9, another
season 9 decoder for the Macintosh.
From the DS9 Readme (c) by Ian Stoyle:
It uses the same Adapter as all the other Season7 type programmes
but because its a Macintosh you must connect :-
HSi(Handshake in ) to RESET OUT(CTS or DCD) of the adapter.
I have noticed that on a Pbook 540C you need to connect RXD+ to GND
ie Pin 8 to Pin 4 of the Mini Din Apple recomend this anyway but I
have had it cause problems ont other machines
Another wiring possibility (c) by me:
I used a Sub-D 25-pin plug, soldered DCD to pin 8 and connected the
interface with my Hardware Handshaking modem cable that came with my Supra
Modem.
